LINO’S RESTAURANT

ABOUT US

OUR STORY

The Mediterranean,
from us to you

Lino’s Restaurant has been established since 1983 and enjoys a regular and discerning clientele. Whilst travelling the globe working on cruise liners, Lino won a prize to study at catering college in Bordighera, a town 250km from his home village of San Terenzo and just a few minutes away from the French border.

Lino and two others finished their studies in joint first place and were sent to England in 1960 to learn English.

Enrico’s son, Emilio, can be found helping his dad on a Saturday night in the kitchen, when cousin Caroline enjoys a night off. Daughter Talia prefers giving a hand, front of house, to Ian and Jean, who have both been with Lino’s for over 20 years.

Lino’s Restaurant – where nothing is too much trouble

He began working at Speke Airport (now Liverpool John Lennon) and it was here that he met his wife to be, Barbara. It was while working at the Old Quay in Parkgate on the Wirral a couple of years later that Lino and Barbara were offered the chance to manage their own premises, and in 1969 they took over The Cottage Loaf in Thurstaston which they ran until 1982.

Their son Enrico had been born in 1965, and by the age of 15 was already learning the trade in the kitchen – and he has never looked back. Lino, Barbara and Enrico opened their very own place, Lino’s, in 1983 in Hoylake where they enjoyed many years of feeding the Wirral’s most discerning diners. With Lino as front of house, Barbara as head chef (having learned her skills from Lino’s mum in Italy) and Enrico as sous chef, this family team worked together for over 15 years.
